Tanks!
This faithful recreation of the classic "Tanks!" game from Nintendo's Wii Play gives the same thrill of tank warfare and challenging levels. I made the game during the development of On The Seabed to gain experience with tilemaps, level design, pathfinding algorithms, and dynamic enemy AI.
Programming
This endeavor provided a valuable opportunity to implement A* pathfinding algorithms and experiment with finite-state machines for dynamic enemy AI. Utilizing raycasts for line-of-sight detection, I crafted intelligent opponents capable of challenging players with strategic movements and realistic behaviors. This project not only deepened my understanding of game development techniques but also resulted in a faithful homage to a beloved arcade experience.

Art Direction
To evoke the nostalgic charm of the original "Tanks!" game, I embraced a pixel art style, rendered from a top-down perspective. Every visual detail, from the tank sprites to the iconic cursor, has been crafted to capture the essence of the original game. Subtle touches like wood grain textures, dynamic tread marks, and nuanced shadows further enhance the visual experience, immersing players in a pixelated world of tank warfare.
