2D Action Game (WIP)
This untitled 2D action game, currently in development, is a personal exploration of the action-adventure genre, drawing inspiration from acclaimed titles like Hyper Light Drifter and Death's Door. Built in tandem with my custom Waterwheel game engine, this project offers a unique opportunity to test and refine the engine's capabilities while crafting a compelling gameplay experience. The narrative thrusts players into a perilous drainage system, where they must confront not only external obstacles but also their own self-destructive tendencies on a journey of introspection and escape.
Programming
A core gameplay element involves a realistic 2D water simulation, where players and enemies interact with its dynamic currents. Achieving high-fidelity fluid dynamics while maintaining optimal performance came as a unique challenge. Through careful implementation and optimization, I aim to create a visually impressive and responsive water system that enhances player immersion and strategic gameplay.

Original Soundtrack Music
Building upon my initial forays into game audio with Sucker Succor, I've embarked on a more ambitious musical endeavor for this 2D action game. Leveraging Reaper as my primary tool, I've delved into the creation of multi-track loops utilizing a MIDI interface and piano keyboard to compose original melodies and drum patterns. This process has proven to be both rewarding and challenging, requiring numerous iterations and experimentation to achieve the desired atmosphere.
Art Direction
While the visual elements of this 2D action game are still in their early stages, I've begun laying the foundation with concept art and a preliminary tileset for the tutorial level. This process has reinforced the value of concept art in shaping the overall aesthetic vision, pushing me to strive for a higher level of visual fidelity than I might have otherwise achieved. I'm eager to delve deeper into the artistic development of this project, making the story and gameplay come to life.
